On March 21, 2022, the exhibition HerendEcho of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd. opened at the renovated gallery of the Museum of the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany on the feast of the founder of the Benedictine Order, St. Benedict (+547).
The Herend porcelain exhibition HerendEcho opened at the renovated gallery of the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany. The concept of the exhibition is based on a triple unit, in line with the spirit of the place. Tihany is a “royal guard abbey”, since at the end of October 1921, Hungarian King Charles IV (later beatified) finally put down his sword to prevent bloodshed, and together with Queen Zita they spent their last days in Hungary in the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany. In view of this, the exhibition focuses on a selection of Herend’s sacred porcelain objects, surrounded on one side by Herend’s traditional works of art including a selection of Herend patterns that can be linked to aristocratic orders, while also presenting the development history of these decors. On the other side, the sacred objects are accompanied by innovative works of art that have evolved from Herend’s traditional roots. The Herend porcelain exhibition is open until mid-June 2022.
