A new exhibition titled “Hunting in Art, Art in Hunting” opened at the Victoria Brand Shop in Herend.
At the joint event of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd. and the Veszprém County Hunters’ Chamber, the CEO of the Manufactory greeted the large number of guests. Dr Attila Simon said that the Herend Porcelain Manufactory considers it important to create, preserve and pass on values. Based on this cultural mission, it has had an excellent relationship with the Hunters’ Chamber for decades. Although the Herend Porcelain Manufactory has 16,000 forms and 4,000 patterns, a total of about 64 million (!) products, 300-400 new items are born in the Manufactory each year. This extraordinary product development would not be possible without inspiration. Nature provides inexhaustible themes, opportunities and inspirations for Herend masters. He emphasized that Herend has also been inspired by nature giving Herend more and more innovative ideas. There is hardly a pattern in the Manufactory’s product range in which respect for nature and wildlife does not appear. Nature creates the perfect, and whoever draws from nature creates valuable works of art for posterity, the CEO emphasized.
László Jámbor, President of the Hungarian Hunters’ National Chamber, said that this exhibition, created in collaboration of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory and the Veszprém County Hunters’ Chamber, is a good example of how organizations working in different fields but meeting at certain points can create values that spread the value-adding cultural activities of both areas much more widely. He also emphasized that the program office organizing the 2021 “One with Nature” World of Hunting and Nature Exhibition played an important role in the creation of the exhibition, which is the introductory event of the aforementioned world event.
The exhibition displays specimens of Hungarian wildlife, dioramas, various hunting methods and works of art including pieces from the Herend Porcelain Manufactory connected to nature.
The exhibition “Hunting in Art, Art in Hunting” can be viewed on the storey of the Victoria Brand Shop in Herend from October 15, 2020.
