Courtly Splendour, Contemporary Brilliance – Herend porcelain exhibition in Fertőd
2026. April 30.
The latest anniversary exhibition of Herend Porcelain Manufactory, entitled “Courtly Splendour, Contemporary Brilliance”, opened in the uniquely atmospheric Sala Terrena Hall of the Esterházy Castle in Fertőd.
The exhibition presents the world of classic and modern Herend creations on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Manufactory.
The choice of the historical location was no accident: the relationship between the Esterházy family and Herend porcelain dates back centuries, so the castle provides an impressive setting for the masterpieces of the world-famous Manufactory. Visitors can also admire iconic sets, including special pieces in the Victoria, Gödöllő and Esterházy patterns.
At the opening ceremony, Csilla Sütő, managing director of Eszterháza Centre, highlighted that their goal is to bring as many exhibitions and cultural programs as possible to the castle that appeal to a wide audience.
Dr. Attila Simon, CEO of Herend Porcelain Manufactory, emphasized in his speech: “Herend was, is and will be.” As he put it, the two-century-old past means both tradition and continuous renewal. He highlighted that Herend’s product range includes approximately 4 thousand patterns and 16 thousand white forms, in a total of 64 million variations, and is expanded by 300-400 new motifs every year. Herend pays attention to traditions but is constantly renewing itself, moving with the times, and is a world-leading porcelain manufactory.
The exhibition not only pays tribute to the past but also shows how Herend porcelain remains relevant in the 21st century: thanks to its elegance and diversity, it still offers suitable pieces for every generation and home.
